Sanitary Waste Disposal System – Design and Tooling

 

Client: TerraCyclic

 

Brief:

To assist with product design, evaluation and manufacture tooling for various parts for a sanitary waste bin.  To provide low cost moulded parts with a thin wall and a tool constructed for integration with downstream assembly processes.

 

Purpose:

The TerraCyclic Waste Disposal Unit provides a completely hygienic, convenient, environmentally friendly product for the discreet, user friendly and safe disposal of sanitary products.

 

Solution:

A well designed and manufactured complex tool bringing all parts of the waste bin together in correct orientation, taking into account tool costs, tool longevity, part quality and part costs.

 

There were some demanding features that had to be worked through, while retaining a low cycle time and satisfactory quality part. This tool has now performed well over 1,000,000 cycles.

 

Following this successful product, TerraCyclic have engaged with us in the same role for their subsequent projects; with different demands, but with the same dependable outcomes.
